WIZE - WIZE (1980)
Released on Becket Records, a subsidiary of Buddah Records, Wize were John "Mac" Maczynski (Lead Guitar & Vocals), Tom Topalian (Bass & Vocals) and Bob Tamburri (Drums & Vocals). The band was based out of Jackson Heights, NY in Queens. They played all over the tristate area. Right after the album and single were released there was a dispute between the label and the production company over another record that the band in a holding pattern until they broke up. The album has an engaging blend of innocent bubblegum and power pop. There's plenty of catchy tunes mixed with joy. The spirit of the Rubinoos is not far...

I'm always amazed by the lack of success of native NY musicians. You'd think that with just the sheer number of the population in the NY / NJ area, as well as the fact that most of the record labels had head offices in NYC, that there would be an enormous list of bands & individuals that had made it.
Wize, which I never heard of, sound as if they had the makings of being quite the hit machine if in the hands of good producers.
