A 7" EP of fun (Never Reissued)

THE REMAYNS FIRST EP (1985)

The Remayns were a project from Nick Haeffner (guitar, ex Tea Set) with Gary Hawkins (drums), Steve Robinson ( Fortunate Sons' bass player), Clive Pig (rhythm guitar) and Cally Callomon (vocals, ex Tea Set) who is also portrayed 4 times with his favourite cat Lurch on the Bam Caruso sleeve. They were covering four 60's classics. It was released on multi coloured wax. Cally Callomon was the co-founder of Bam Caruso with Phil Smee, he is the former manager of Julian Cope, and the executor of Nick Drake's estate

KURSAAL FLYERS - IN FOR A SPIN (1983)

Anthology first released in Germany (1983), the LP was reissued in the UK by Edsel with a different artwork (1985), it was finally available in CD format in 1988 on Line Records. It includes 7 songs remixed in 1982 (unavailable elsewhere)

"In for a Spin" is a comprehensive overview of the band's brief and underappreciated career, comprised of highlights from their three albums, plus the terrific non-LP single "Television Generation" and five previously unreleased tracks. "Girls That Don't Exist" will be re-recorded by Will Birch and John Wicks with The Records and "Everything But A Heartbeat" covered by The Searchers.

A Spanish Tribute To "Crashes"

TRIBUTE TO THE RECORDS - I REMEMBER YOUR NAME (1996)

A die hard fan of the Records, Antonio Maimo (from Spain) had the idea to release a different kind of Tribute. Instead of compiling some songs taken from various albums, he reunited with the crop of spanish indie bands and together they made a 1996 version of the most famous Records album "Crashes". The collection was released in Spain only.

A Brand New One: PPA Exclusive

WINGS GREATEST REVISITED (2026)

After having reupped the complete series of classic albums revisited and originally posted on PPC some years ago, here's a brand new one. This is not really an album but instead a collection of the first solo / Wings years (1971-1978) of Paul with some of his biggest hits. The usual set of custom artwork includes full details of the bands involved.

A #1 Revisited

#1 RECORDED (2021)

Another one added to the continuing story of some classic albums revisited. #1 Record was released in 1972, flopped at the time but is now considered as an all-time gem. The usual set of custom artwork includes full details of the bands involved.

The 1993 UK Reissue of the 1971 Classic Revisited

A RAM MEMORY - TRIBUTE TO...(2020)

Released in May 1971, RAM was poorly received, but is now considered as one of his best albums. The CD UK reissue added both sides of the single released in February 1971. This is the version compiled here, with 14 artists / bands covering the whole album.

The 1993 UK Reissue of the 1973 Classic Revisited

BANDS ON THE RERUN - A TRIBUTE TO... (2020)

Released in 1973, the UK edition of BOTR had nine tracks, the US release included "Helen Wheels" on side 2. It's only in 1993 that the CD UK reissue added both sides of the single. This is how you'll listen to 11 bands/artists covering the original album plus the single as bonus tracks.

Special note: As the "1985" cover didn't include the BOTR outro, I've added the BOTR snippet made by Zeus Henderson at the end of  his own cover of "Say Say Say" (this one was featured on Tributes or Not Tributes Vol. 15)

Dr. Winston Revisited

RE-IMAGINED (2021)

The most famous songs from the album have been covered plenty of times, i have listened to a lot of mawkish versions, so you won't be surprised that you won't get any of those, the collection trying to be more power pop than M.O.R. The problem is that some artists only take the soft side of the songs without the rock side of Lennon and so you get so many lame versions. The usual set of custom artwork includes full details of the bands involved.

All Things Almost Revisited

ALL THINGS MUST PASS AGAIN (2021)

ATMP was a 3 LP's set, four sides of rock/pop songs and two sides of Apple Jam.  So, this new revival of the multi-platinum album is based upon the first two LP's. The Apple Jam record has been obvioulsy omitted. So you only get the 18 rock/pop songs plus a bonus (the only sung track of the third LP)  The usual set of custom artwork includes full details of the bands involved.

T.Rex Revisited (Part 1 of 2)

ELECTRIC WARRIOR ECLECTIC (2021)

No need to introduce this essential album that was a return to basics and will lead to the burgeoning scene of the punk era. The album is completely covered by 11 artists, but it also adds the singles which were included on the 2012 CD reissue as bonus tracks. The usual set of custom artwork includes full details of the bands involved.

FIFTH DIMENSION REDIMENSIONED (2022)

Another jangling milestone (even though Gene Clark had just left the band) which has become highly influential (psychedelic, country rock, folk rock and even experimental) over the years. The album is revisited by 11 artists.

OOP CD Reissue (Hard To Find...and Expensive Nowadays)

THE RECORDS - THE RECORDS/SHADES IN BED (2002)

The album was reissued in 2002 with a new artwork (the inner sleeve of the UK edition) with 6 bonus tracks (the UK singles + plus a remix of "Teenarama" by Craig Leon who was hired to produce the follow-up "Crashes".

CD REISSUE (520 mb)

The UK LP + 12" EP (Original Artwork Never Reissued)

THE RECORDS - SHADES IN BED (1979)

The first Records album "Shades In Bed" was released in the UK with a 12" bonus of 4 covers, and with a new recording of the single "Starry Eyes" produced by Robert John Lange.
I've included the original NME review by Nick Kent, plus a NME full feature about The Records written by Max Bell who was at the time the Power Pop specialist in the UK.

The US LP Edition (Never Reissued)

THE RECORDS - THE RECORDS (1979)

In the USA, Virgin Records first decided to change the title "Shades In Bed" to the eponymous "The Records" and the sleeve (maybe too offensive for the US eyes). They also replaced the UK LP version of "Starry Eyes" with the Will Birch produced UK single version. Finally they also changed the track sequence.

The (Scarce) US Single Version

THE RECORDS - STARRY EYES (1979)

The single version of the Records' classic "Starry Eyes" was produced by Will Birch. Most of the compilations include the LP version or the UK single version. The UK single version and the B side "Paint Her Face" were featured as bonus tracks on the 2002 CD reissue of "Shades In Bed". The US version remains unavailable elsewhere.

A Power Pop Record

THE RECORDS - ROCK AND ROLL LOVE LETTER (1979)

Second single from The Records, a cover of the Tim Moore song, it was first covered by the Dirty Angels in 1975. It was a hit in 1976 for The BCR. The song has been covered several times since (Mitch Easter, Gary & The Grip Weeds, The Slingsby Hornets...).

"Rock And Roll Love Letter" and its flip side "Wives & Mothers Of Tomorrow" were not included on the first LP "Shades In Bed" but later added as bonus tracks on the 2002 CD reissue.

Coca-Cola Is All You Ever Drink

THE RECORDS - TEENARAMA (1979)

First proper single lifted from "Shades In Bed", "Teenarama" was produced by Robert John Lange with a non-LP track produced by Will Birch. The B side "Held Up High" was later included on the 2002 CD reissue. "Teenarama" is probably the same version as the LP version even though it is just 4 or 5 seconds longer.
