anybody within a hundred-mile radius. fronted by the awesome, feral
Linda "Texacala" Jones, Tex & The Horseheads were influenced by
raunch 'n' roll, country, blues and what they drank!. "Life's So Cool" is a hard-hitting follow-up to their eight-song debut record. "Life's So Cool" is produced by John Doe (X), It starts with an uncredited quote from the old instrumental "Cat's Squirrel"
(uncredited on the sleeve) and then goes on to such topics as drinking,
fornication and legal tangles in songs that are substantial and
thoughtfully developed.

This is a really fun album. There's a sweet acoustic song called "The Slip" that ends with Texacala Jones drawling to guitarist Mike Martt, "Mike, you scared Screaming Jay Hawkins to DEATH last night!" Wonder what the story was behind that?
Martt sings a heroin ballad called "Spider and The Peach" (maybe a play on "Needle and the Spoon"?) that still gets stuck in my head from time to time.
The LP ends with a cover of "It's A Happening" by the Magic Mushrooms, which will be familiar to fans of Lenny Kaye's Nuggets compilation.
