Ho Ho Ho, Let's Go!: "Christmas 2022": NEW COLLECTION

HO HO HO, LET'S GO! (2022)

In one month from today, Christmas will be here, and after having re-upped all the previous 16 volumes from 2006 to 2021, here's a brand new collection never compiled and therefore never posted on PPC or PPA.

Two years after "The Last Christmas (Back to Mono)" this is a new volume of 26 Christmas songs, and quite enjoyable, even though, it will always sound mono for me. As previously, the collection comes with the complete set of artwork including all the details about the bands involved.

THE LAST CHRISTMAS (BACK TO MONO) (2021)

Following my sudden hearing loss of my right side, this was supposed to be my last collection, it was also my 143th PPC compilation (the 16th Xmas one) and at the time a rather nice end for PPC.

Excellent Power Pop Anthology (PPC 2012)

VARIOUS - POWER POP! WILL BIRCH'S C90 (1994)

In 1994 (June, Issue #7), Mojo Magazine asked Will Birch (Kursaal Flyers, The Records), a famous die hard power pop fan to compile his dream C90 of Power Pop tunes. It was a long long time ago before Mojo was giving away free cd's with every issue. It was a long long time ago when Mojo was really ....well... Mojo.

So, Will Birch picked 30 songs which try to encapsulate the best of the Power Pop genre. Of course, lack of space prohibited the inclusion of major names (dB's, Plimsouls, Redd Kross, Material Issue and some of the other fab bands we all love), but the challenge was to do the job with only 90 minutes of music. Will Birch made a terrific work, and i hope it helped to popularize the genre with some readers not always familiar with Power Pop.

All the original liner notes, written by Will Birch, have been included within the booklet. You'll read why some versions (e.g. the Philips single Version of "Shake Some Action", the Bomp single version of "Tomorrow Night", or the single version of "There She Goes"...) were chosen instead of the most familiar. Custom artwork made for PPC in 2012.

At the time of its first posting on PPC, Will Birch wrote this about my post:

"Angelo, thanks for giving my Power Pop compilation for Mojo an airing, and congratulations on the magnificent artwork.
It was the first of the C90 features run in Mojo (at my suggestion) although I confess to stealing the idea from a US 1970s fanzine the name of which I can't recall right now. I also did a 'Country Rock' C90 some months later."
