The first album (1st Australian Edition)

THE SAINTS - (I'M) STRANDED (1977)

The first Saints album, this is the first Australian LP edition and it sounds as fresh today as it sounded 50 years ago. As a matter of fact, this is one of my all-time favorite albums (along the original "muddy" L.A.M.F). I have listened to all the CD reissues of "(I'm) Stranded" and the only good one is the first australian 1987 CD reissue. Forget all the other brickwalled ones.

THE SAINTS - (I'M) STRANDED (1976)

The first single (not the the australian pressing on Fatal Records) but one of the first two UK edition with the black moulded labels. The 7" version is slightly longer than the one available on the first LP. Anyway, a must have.

Netherlands LP Edition

THE NEIGHBORHOODS - REPTILE MEN (1987)

Before making the vinyl transfer of their third album "Reptile Men", i tried to find the 1991 CD reissue at a reasonable price, but as i was unable to find one, i finally made the needle drop in 2019. You may know that the CD reissue had two bonus tracks lifted from "Fire is Coming" (1984). I have included the scans of the CD reissue along the usual set of custom artwork.

The First Album (Never Reissued)

THE NEIGHBORHOODS - FIRE IS COMING (1984)

Hailing from Boston, The Neighborhoods started out playing strong power pop (a 1980 single, "Prettiest Girl," remains a local classic) in the wake of British neo/mods. The eight/song Fire Is Coming is a get your feet wet proposition, relative to the albums; a likable pointer to the future. The production is a bit thin, but you can tell what the horns on the very first track (ambitious idea) were meant to sound like. The cover of "If I Had a Hammer" was a great idea, enthusiastically executed. Even though two songs of the album were included as bonus tracks on the 1991 CD reissue of "Reptile Men" (1987), the full length has never been fully reissued.

TATER TOTZ - MONO! STEREO:

SGT. SHONEN'S EXPLODING PLATIC EASTMAN REQUEST (1989)

After Neurotica (1987), Redd Kross was prevented to record under their name during three years. Instead, as the Tater Totz, the McDonald brothers corralled member Michael Quercio (Salvation Army, Three O'Clock), Kim Shattuck (The Pandoras, White Flag, The Muffs), Pat Smear (White Flag) plus some Shonen Knife members. "Mono! Stereo" was a collection of covers and a few originals, the album included renditions of  Lennon, McCartney, David Essex, Queen.

GT Anthology (The Early Years)

GAME THEORY - DISTORTION OF GLORY (1993)

"Distortion of Glory" was a 1994 CD anthology of all of 1982's "Blaze of Glory" and most of the two following 12" EPs, (though the songs were remixed and 3 songs were dropped) 1983's "Pointed Accounts of People You Know" and 1984's Michael Quercio-produced "Distortion", plus a rare flexidisc track, "Dead Center.". "Distortion of Glory" is an essential release for Game Theory fans, making these otherwise impossible to find songs available again.

Distortion was reissued on 10-inch green vinyl on November 28, 2014, in a limited pressing of 1,500 copies, available only in record stores, as part of Black Friday Record Store Day

GT Mini Album (Never Reissued on CD)

GAME THEORY - POINTED ACCOUNTS OF PEOPLE YOU KNOW (1983)

After his first band Alternate Learning, Scott Miller formed Game Theory and released some of the best albums during the 80's. Here is the first proper mini album released in 1983. Actually, the real first album called "Blaze Of Glory" was a promo only item limited edition of 500 given to press and college-radio people. "Pointed Accounts Of People You Know" (1983) has never been reissued. Some of those songs (4 out of 6), as well the "Blaze Of Glory" LP surfaced again on the "Distortion Of Glory" CD (1993), but they were re-mixed. So, this mini-album is the only way to listen to all of those lost gems. For info, in 2014, Omnivore reissued the Pointed Accounts of People You Know EP on 10-inch clear vinyl.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE TWO WAYS OF BECOMING ALICE (2000)

Probably the masterpiece of Michael Quercio with his new band (after Salvation Army, The Three O'Clock and Permanent Green Light). The album was ranked #118 in the first edition of "Shake Some Action (2007)" and #139 in the new edition of "Shake Some Action 2.0 (2019)"

PERMANENT GREEN LIGHT - HITLER WITH MASCARA (1996)

After a few singles and an album "Against Nature" (1993), co-leader with Michael Quercio (Three O'Clock, Jupiter Affect) Matt Devine left mid-1995 and was replaced by guitarist Bernard Yin of Medicine's touring band and Quercio took over all songwriting and vocal chores for the group's next single, 1995's "You Are the Queen of Market Street." Apparently, a full album was recorded with Yin, but it remained unreleased. Two tracks eventually showed up in Spain as the final Permanent Green Light single with Yin, "Hitler with Mascara" coupled with the wonderful "Angela Davis Hair"

The Plimsouls Live '85 (Official Release) (Soundboard)

THE PLIMSOULS - LIVE AT THE PALACE, HOLLYWOOD '85 (2012)

A previously unavailable, 21-song live recording (probably just before the first break-up) from 1985 by the Plimsouls. Recorded at The Palace, in Hollywood CA, this special recording finds the band not only plundering through their back catalog, but performing some songs ( "Twisted Friend", "Just Like That") that never made it onto any Plimsouls release. The band performs some songs that will be released later as Peter Case "I Shook His Hand", "More Than Curious" or "Who's Gonna Break The Ice". And, they also do some very cool covers of "Glory (Television)", "My Lonely Sad Eyes (Them)", "Fall On You (Moby Grape)", "Jumping From Love To Love (Dr Feelgood)", and "Jumpin' In The Night (Flamin' Groovies)". And they're joined on this performance by Gurf Morlix on pedal steel and background vocals - giving the band a sound and feel never heard before.

UK LP Edition (14 Tracks) (Never Properly Reissued)

FLAMIN' GROOVIES - JUMPIN' IN THE NIGHT (1979, UK Edition)

UK edition of "Jumpin' In The Night", final part of the Sire trilogy. The track order is totally different from the US edition, with also some alternate choices of the covers selected. "You're My Wonderful One", "19th Nervous Breakdown" & a beatlesque "Boys" replace "Werewolves of London" and "It Won't Be Wrong". As the UK edition goes, the choice of "Please Please Me" as the opening seems more than obvious, and the title track becomes the piece de resistance as the final track of side 1. For all these reasons, UK Side one is so strong that the second side dismally fails to attain the same kind of density. This edition has never been reissued in CD.

FLAMIN' GROOVIES - JUMPIN' IN THE NIGHT (1997, Reissue Japan)

This is the very first CD reissue of the album, that 1997 Japan reissue had 13 songs including two unique covers : "It Won't Be Wrong" and "Werewolves Of London". It uses the original artwork, and was actually a reissue of the US LP with the same track order. A different mastering was used for all the subsequent US CD reissues (2005, 2020) and the versions available on all the streaming sites.
