Self Released Canadian Power Pop

THE RYE CATCHERS - THE RYE CATCHERS (2000)

Formed around 1996, The Rye Catchers were from Vancouver, Canada. Their self released album is a superb power pop album. It was ranked #21 in the David Bash list of the best Power Pop albums of 2001.

WU (310 mb)
Not to be confused with the australian band who also released an eponymous titled album.

They're from Australia, not Canada. It looks like the album was released in Canada.

re-posting my deleted comment wth no typo error

i understand this might be confusing but they are from Canada

the other Rye Catchers you're talking about has a harder sound than the canadian outfit

the entry on discogs of the canadian album is totally erroneous - another Rye Catchers artist entry should be created

the australian Rye Catchers has released 2 or 3 albums

I was just coming back to say this. My apologies for not doing all my research before.

no problem, a comment is better than no comment at all
and i've learned something, until today i didn't know there was an australian band with the same name

I had never heard of either. The single listed on the Discogs page seems to be the other band. I wonder about the EP.

i have fixed the entry on discogs - but i have found out that the band name was changed for their second album

Went ahead and bought it on Discogs.

You have turned me on to some amazing music, thank you!

Angelo, Thanks for posting this fine Canadian release. How about ripping The Diodes vinyl catalogue ? The CDs that were put out of "Tired Of Waking Up Tired - The Best Of The Diodes" & "Action/Reaction" are painful to listen to.

i'll post the second LP for two reasons

1. two songs of the second LP were replaced on the CD compilation by alternate versions
2. the original "Released" has never been fully reissued

and finally, i have it on my HD
